H1B Visa Quota for FY 2024 – Masters vs Regular Cap
The H1B Visa has two types of quotas: the regular quota and the master’s quota. The number of H-1B visas granted annually by the US Congress has been limited to 85,000. This is known as the H1B quota cap. Here is a list of each of their current annual quota caps, which also applies to H1B FY 2024.
- H1B Regular Quota: 65000 visas
- H1B Master’s Quota: 20000 visas (candidates must have passed US Master’s Degree to be eligible for this quota)
It is important to note that about 6,800 visas have been earmarked for the respective residents under the free trade agreements of Singapore and Chile. About 6,800 are classified as H1B1 workers. Thus the total number is theoretically less than 85,000 annually in terms of H1B quotas. But, in general, only a few are consumed in Chile and Singapore.
