The Maharashtra Inter Caste Marriage Scheme 2024 is a government initiative aimed at promoting inter-caste marriages to combat caste discrimination within the state Under this program couples where one partner belongs to the general category and the other to a scheduled caste are eligible for incentives provided by the government. To qualify for benefits under this scheme the marriage must be registered under either the Hindu Marriage Act 1955, or the Special Marriage Act 1954. The scheme introduced by the State of Maharashtra, aims to encourage such marriages with both the Central and State governments responsible for allocating beneficiary amounts Each government contributes 50% of the total incentive sum reflecting a shared commitment to fostering social equality and harmony within the state.

Benefits of Inter Caste Marriage Scheme

  • The fundamental goal of this programme is to eradicate caste prejudice from our society.
  • The state government will award the newlywed couple a financial incentive.
  • The Dr. Bhimrao Ambedkar Foundation will contribute Rs. 250,000 to support the programme.
  • Incentive amounts will be directly transferred to recipients’ bank accounts.

Eligibility Criteria

  • Both spouses must be long-term residents of Maharashtra state to qualify for scheme benefits.
  • Both spouses must be at least 18 years old.
  • At least one of the spouses must belong to the scheduled castes.
  • Hindu Scheduled Castes and other castes of the Hindu religion are permitted to marry each other under the scheme.
  • No bonus is provided on a second or subsequent marriage.
  • After receiving the incentive sum, married couples must enter into a court marriage

  • Both Aadhar Cards (Husband & Wife)
  • Both certificates for caste (Husband & Wife)
  • Authenticated Marriage Certificate 
  • Couple’s Joint Photograph (Husband & Wife)
  • Copy of the couple’s joint bank account statement, 
  • Declaration form duly signed

Application Procedure of Scheme for 2024

  • Visit the Inter Caste Marriage website of Maharashtra Inter Caste Marriage Portal.
  • Click on the Inter-caste Marriage Scheme link on the home page of the official website.
  • You will be directed to a new page containing a registration form.
  • Fill in the required information on the registration page including spouse name, marriage details, Aadhar card number, and method of marriage.
  • Attach the necessary documents as requested.
  • Finally, click the submit button to complete the process.
