NEC Merit Scholarship Eligibility Criteria
- Residency Requirement: Applicants must be permanent residents of any of the North Eastern States.
- Application Procedure: For candidates from the Academic Year 2020-21 onward, the scholarship application must be submitted through the National Scholarship Portal (NSP). However, existing scholarship recipients will continue under the previous procedure until the completion of their scholarship tenure.
- Duration of Scholarship: The scholarship is available for the prescribed duration of the course, subject to meeting renewal conditions. Extensions beyond the specified study period will not be considered.
- Exclusivity: Recipients should not be receiving any other scholarship or financial assistance from other sources during the tenure of the NEC Merit Scholarship. Candidates under full employment or those working during the study period are ineligible.

- Permanent Residential Certificate (PRC) or Certificate of Identification (COI): Issued by the Deputy Commissioner, Additional Deputy Commissioners, or Sub-divisional officers of civil sub-divisions in the North Eastern States.
